Mesut Özil's best career moments

Mesut Özil has enjoyed a distinguished career at the top of the game, winning some of the biggest honours football has to offer.
The German midfielder has enjoyed trophy-winning spells at Werder Bremen, Real Madrid and Arsenal, where he currently dons the number 10 shirt.
Özil started his career at FC Schalke 04, coming through the academy and joining the first team in 2005.
The forward made 39 first team appearances before moving to fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen in January 2008.
Wearing the number 11 jersey, Özil scored his first Bundesliga goal in in April 2008, against Karlsruher SC.
Two more years at Werder brought success for the mercurial midfielder, picking up the DFB-Pokal and helping guide the team to the UEFA Cup final in 2009.
In his time at Werder, Özil scored 16 goals and laid on 54 assists.
After a successful World Cup in 2010 with Germany, Özil got his move to Real Madrid, teaming up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Özil was devastating for Los Blancos, helping the side to LaLiga glory in 2012 and a Copa del Rey in 2010.
In his first season at the club, Özil laid on 25 assists, the highest in any major European competition that year.
During Madrid’s title winning season of 2011-12, Özil topped the LaLiga assists charts with 17 assists.
In September 2013, Özil made the move to the Premier League where he joined Arsenal and made an immediate impact, setting up Olivier Giroud on his debut in a 3-1 victory over Sunderland.
Özil then helped Arsenal to their first major trophy in nine years, defeating Hull City 3-2 in the FA Cup final.
In the summer of 2014, Özil became a World Cup winner with Germany, helping defeat Argentina 1-0 in the final in Brazil.
A year on and Arsenal defended the FA Cup as Özil set up two goals in the semi-final before downing Aston Villa 4-0.
The 2015-16 season was Özil’s most prolific for Arsenal in the assists charts.
The Gunners finished second that season, with Özil finishing the season on 20 Premier League assists and eight goals.
Under Unai Emery, Özil has captained Arsenal as the side made it to the UEFA Europa League final and finished in fifth place in the Premier League.
