Stars return for pre-season training

The holiday season is all but over as the biggest clubs in the world return to pre-season training ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The first batch of superstars are returning to their clubs to be put through their paces before jetting off on pre-season tours.

Real Madrid are on the clubs get their pre-season underway with plenty of new faces gracing the session.

Eden Hazard’s move to the Bernabéu was one of the biggest transfers of the summer so far as he departed Chelsea after seven seasons.

Hazard became a club icon at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title twice as well as two UEFA Europa League crowns.

The Belgian was one of a host of players reporting back to Valdebebas to undergo medical exams.

Hazard tallied 15 assists in the Premier League in his final season, also netting 16 goals as Chelsea finished third.

The forward teams up with former teammate Thibaut Courtois at Real Madrid as Hazard looks to help Los Blancos challenge for LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.

FC Bayern were another team to check into the pre-season with new signings.

Lucas Hernandez is one of FC Bayern’s marquee captures this summer, moving from Atlético Madrid to the German champions.

The 23-year-old brings youth and energy to the backline following the departure of Mats Hummels back to former club Borussia Dortmund.

Hernandez will take on Philipp Lahm’s iconic number 21 shirt.

FC Bayern will host the Audi Cup once more this pre-season, taking on Fenerbahçe with Spurs and Real Madrid battling out the other semi-final.

UEFA Champions League finalists Tottenham started their new season preparations this week ahead of a busy pre-season schedule.

Lucas Moura, hat-trick hero from the Champions League semi-final against Ajax, was one of the stars to report back to Spurs Lodge, alongside Eric Dier, Érik Lamela and Harry Winks.

Spurs head to Asia for their pre-season campaign, where they’ll take on Juventus and Manchester United in the International Champions Cup before facing Real Madrid in the Audi Cup, in Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain will also be taking their exploits east this pre-season, heading to China to take on Inter and Sydney FC.

Kopa Trophy winner Kylian Mbappé was one of a host of big names returning to training on Monday [July 8] as the side gears up for the defence of their Ligue 1 crown.
